Coronavirus Riders get creative with entertainment and training during closure

With the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic causing races to be postponed and governments across Europe mandating isolation and social distancing as a response, teams and riders everywhere are finding alternative ways to cope. [Some riders are training outdoors before full blockade measures, such as those currently in place in Italy, France, and Spain, are implemented.

See below how riders throughout the peloton are coping with the situation.

Cofidis star sprinter Elia Viviani is hitting the gym. The Italian is based in Verona, which is currently completely blockaded.

Dimension Data climber Luis Meintjes spends his time on self-improvement. First up is baking.

Alberto Contador, a former professional rider and multiple Grand Tour winner, hosts training rides on Instagram. Spain has banned cyclists from going out.

Tour de France champion Egan Bernal trains at home. His new Ineos teammate, Andrei Amador, does the same.

Stefano Aldani, the Milan-based Lot Soudal neo-pro, continues to train at home. Teammate Thomas De Gendt attacked on the final Paris-Nice stage over the weekend, but went into a sealed state.

Dimension Data's Michal Valgren, who was also out training this morning, is in a "kind of" lockdown in the south of France. However, that will not last long. The French government will introduce a complete blockade for two weeks starting at noon.

Meanwhile, in the US, Colin Joyce of Rally Cycling and Jono Coulter of Evolo are coping in very different ways.
