With riders across Europe on lockdown due to the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak, most, if not all, are going big distances on their turbo trainers.
Jumbo-Visma's Robert Gesink is one such rider, who on Sunday did a 250 km ride (open in new tab) on Zwift and Platform's fictional Watopia course, using a Tacx Magnum treadmill trainer.
The Dutchman did a 7-hour indoor cycling session a few days after an outdoor trainer session at his home in Andorra with a view.
Goethink still has some time to go before he can rival Astana's Lawrence de Vries.
On Friday, the Belgian rider logged a huge 370 km ride on the virtual finish circuit of the Yorkshire World Championships. The 31-year-old spent more than 11 hours on his trainer in a ride titled #OliverNaesenChallenge (open in new tab).
"Show your fighting spirit Against covid-19," de Vries wrote on Instagram, showing off his ride data and setup in photos and video.
Last week, Oliver Naessen of AG2R La Mondiale did a mammoth 365 km ride around East Flanders, where outdoor riding is allowed. Thomas de Gendt and Jasper de Baist of Lotto Soudal did a 300 km training ride over the weekend to commemorate Milan-San Remo.
Many rides also took place online. Over the weekend, RCS Sport and Garmin organized an online ride of the final 57 km of Milan-San Remo.
Several past winners participated, including Vincenzo Nibali and Maurizio Fondriest, as well as 2019 Tour de Flanders winner Alberto Bettiol and former world champion Alessandro Balan.
In addition, both Mitchelton Scott and Israel Startup Nation have hosted indoor rides in the past, and ISN held a Zwift virtual Stay at on Friday night featuring Andre Greipel and Alex Dowsett. Home ride featuring Andre Greipel and Alex Dowsett.
Meanwhile, Mitchelton-Scott is hosting an online event series called BikeExchange - Where the World Rides. Simon Yates and Annemieke van Fluten have participated so far.
