As cycling news and the cycling world at large await the resumption of competition after the coronavirus outbreak is under control, professional riders forced to maintain form on their home trainers are seeking new ways to pass the time.
Attila Walther of the CCC team has adapted the #toiletpaperchallenge, a soccer "keepie-uppie" that has recently gone viral on social media, for cyclists as the #toiletTTpaperchallenge It seems that on Wednesday, he attempted to set a record by balancing seven toilet rolls on his back while in a time trial position on a turbo trainer.
While CCC team leader Greg Van Avermaat recently showed off skills honed in his youth as a soccer player, playing goalkeeper for Belgium's KSK Beveren, in the #toiletpaperchallenge, 21-year-old Hungarian rider, Valter is busy making his mark, so to speak, on the new WorldTour team he joined this season from the CCC Development Team. [After finishing 28th overall at the Tour de la Provence in mid-February, he finished 10th overall at the Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var at the end of the month, winning the best young rider award.
The full extent of the new rules for the #toileTTpaperchallenge is still unclear - to be honest, we're not even sure it even needs to be a time trial bike - but with apologies to Attila, rolling seven times is definitely very unbeatable.
