Hope Introduces CL Floating Road Bike Rotor
[Road CL is designed specifically for hydraulic disc brake systems on road bikes. With the increasing popularity of disc brakes on road bikes, the British component specialist saw an opportunity to bring a new floating rotor to market.

Hope's aluminum component design and manufacturing technology has been lauded by the cycling industry, and with the CL rotor, the company aims to bring nearly 30 years of cycling disc brake heritage to the road bike market.

The idea behind the floating brake rotor is to combine the robustness and thermal management of steel pad contact surfaces with the lightness of aluminum. In Hope's Road CL design, the steel brake surfaces are riveted to an aluminum center carrier.

Hope designed the steel outer parts of these Road CL road brake rotors with rounded edges. A series of vents allow for heat dissipation when strong braking input is required on long descents.

The Road CL series rotors also feature an aluminum carrier with a center locking spline in the center. This aluminum section of the Hope Road CL reduces rotating mass, one of the attractions of the floating brake rotor design.

Accuracy is an important aspect of high-quality disc brake manufacturing. Slight deviations in manufacturing tolerances can result in troublesome brake rubbing and increased mechanical resistance. To avoid this, Hope uses an advanced laser cutting process for brake rotors to ensure the best possible specification control in final production.

The Hope Road CL uses a center-lock mounting interface, reducing the need for conventional bolts.

Hope's Road CL rotors are available in six colors and 160 mm in size, priced at £65.
