Five-time Tour de France winning legend Bernard Hinault is auctioning off one of his many yellow jerseys to help eradicate the coronavirus pandemic. The Breton, along with Artur Vichot, who will auction the 2016 French champion's jersey, will raise funds for the Dinan-based Souffles d'Espoir cancer-fighting charity, the Coronavirus Covid -19 to raise funds to purchase masks for local hospitals to protect healthcare workers from the virus.
Organizer Christophe Lefort wrote on the Souffles d'Espoir Facebook page on Saturday that he aims to win the French champion's jersey. "The idea is to put up the tricolor jerseys to raise funds for the purchase of protective masks to be manufactured by Dinan's company for the services of Dinan-Cancalet-Saint-Malo hospitals and other clients in need.
"The goal of the Souffles D'Espoir Clc is to help the public, more precisely to help in the fight against cancer. So let's help..."
Inaud, an ambassador for the organization, added the Mayo Jaune the next day.
