Best Domestique in the World - Vote for the Finalists

Along with special content for Cyclingnews Domestique Week, we held a Twitter poll for readers and fans to vote for Cyclingnews' "World's Best Domestique."

So far, we've held polls to determine the best classic workhorse, the best sprint support & lead-out rider, the best Grand Tour mountain domestique, and the best diverse hard worker. Now the voting will take place to select the semi-finalists and then the finalists to be crowned Cycling News Best Domestique.

Tim DeClercq (Deceuninck-Quick Step) even praised teammate Yves Lempere for helping to increase the number of votes. The hard-working Belgian spoke to Cycling News about life on the front lines of the peloton, winning 42% of the vote ahead of Daniel Oss (Bora-Hansgrohe), who received 27.9%, and Luke Rowe (Team Ineos), who received 16%. Michal Scherr worked hard for CCC team leader Greg Van Avermaet, but was not appreciated enough and received only 4.9% of the vote.

Mikhail Molkov sent a new rider to Deceuninck-Quick Step in the semi-finals and topped the poll for best sprint support rider. Former time trial world champion Tony Martin (Jumbo-Visma) finished second and was recognized for his ability to contain the breakaway and line up the peloton in the last kilometer of the sprint stage.

Mikkel Nieve (Mitchelton-Scott) won Best Domestique of the Grand Tour with 49% of the votes, with Andrei Amador (Team Ineos) in second place with 28.5%.

Adam Hansen (Lotto Soudal) won Best Eclectic Hardworker with 36% of the votes. Stefan Kung (Groupama-FDJ) received 26% of the votes.

In the next round, eight players will compete for four positions in the final. Voting on Twitter will determine who will advance to Friday's final and be crowned Cycling News Best Domestique in the World.
