Michał Kwiatkowski (Team Ineos) will offer several apartments he owns in Torun, Poland, to healthcare workers battling the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The Poles announced the move in a Facebook post on Sunday.
The idea behind offering places to stay is that doctors and nurses are afraid of carrying the virus and infecting their families, Kwiatkowski wrote.
"I have no words to thank the medical services," he writes.
Nothing better illustrates the difficulty of the situation than the broken face of Michał Zaleski, mayor of Torun, who appeared on Onet Rano [a Polish morning television program].
"Like him, I love this city. I love this city as much as he does.
"Perhaps some of the doctors, nurses, and other employees are afraid to return to their apartments for fear of their loved ones' health. Or perhaps they need to bring new medical services to this city."
Kwiatkowski announced Monday morning that the apartments are fully equipped and will be ready for use on Tuesday. He also introduced an offer from real estate firm AP Torn, which is making the same move.
"Some answers to questions that came up about my apartment for medical employees."
"This offer applies to all medical employees: doctors, nurses, medical professionals, etc. I will, of course, share my apartment free of charge. We have just finished the last necessary elements of the facility and the apartment will be available starting Tuesday."
