Corima has introduced two new pairs of carbon road bike wheels. The all-new Corima MCC DX wheels are the brand's radical carbon fiber technology finally compatible with disc brakes.
This French wheel brand is known for its extreme pricing and carbon spokes. For riders who believe in Colima's hand-built French carbon philosophy but have been reluctant to purchase the company's wheelsets due to their incompatibility with tubeless tires and disc brakes, a solution is now available.
With Colima's new MCC DX wheelset, you get all the innovation of carbon fiber and tubeless tires. Keeping up with the trend toward disc brakes on road and gravel bikes was a challenge for Corima's engineers.
The rims come in two depths (32mm and 47mm), and both specifications are filled with vibration-dampening foam to improve ride comfort. Weighing 1295 g and 1340 g respectively, [the proprietary Colima MCC DX rims have an internal width of 19 mm and employ very clever technology to achieve the brand's independent tubeless road tire standard.
The ability to control the carbon fiber manufacturing process in-house has allowed Corima engineers to add a small recess at the bottom of each rim, which serves as an air and sealant port. Corima is also testing and validating tubeless tires to fit the MCC DX wheels. [Continental Grand Prix 5000 TL 700×25, Hutchinson Fusion 5 Storm 700×25 (30), Mavic Yksion Pro UST 700×25, Schwalbe Pro One 700×25 and 28, Vittoria Corsa Speed 700× 23, etc.
Beyond the clever tubeless technology, the most impressive aspect of Colima's new MCC DX wheels are the spokes. Each rim and hub are joined by only six pairs of spokes, giving Colima's wheels a surprisingly clean cross-sectional appearance and low aerodynamic drag coefficient.
Corima's MCC DX wheelset will be available by May, with the 32mm tubeless MCC DX wheelset priced at £3,204 and Corima's 47mm deep option at £3,292
