Enve's Foundation Collection is a new line of more affordable road bike wheels from Utah composite specialist Enve.
With all rims handmade and wheelsets assembled in the U.S., Enve has established a reputation for high-quality carbon fiber cycling. Utah, where Enve's factory is located, is home to many specialized aerospace and engineering suppliers for the global aerospace industry. The location is definitely advantageous, as it is where many of the world's specialized aerospace and engineering suppliers to the aerospace industry congregate.
Seeking to democratize its product lineup without sacrificing the features and ride quality that make Enve so appealing, Enve is now opening its brand doors to a wider range of cycling enthusiasts with a series of wheels at more affordable prices. [The Foundation Collection includes two types of road disc carbon wheels, both with the same basic technical features but different rim depths of 45mm and 65mm.
The 45 and 65 series Foundation Collection wheelsets feature a 21 mm wider rim internal profile to allow riders to benefit from the trend toward wider tires. The rim shape has been meticulously designed with aerodynamic principles in mind and is shaped for optimal running with 25- or 28-degree tires.
The Foundation Collection Enve 45 and 65 with hookless rim construction are tubeless compatible and feature 24 internally molded spoke holes per wheel.
Enve technicians assemble Sapim CX Sprint spokes on each Foundation Collection wheelset and fasten them with Enve road alloy hubs and a 40T ratchet system. These hubs are compatible with Shimano, SRAM XDR, and Campagnolo drivers.
This hub is also designed for center-lock brake rotors, avoiding the hassle of rechecking torque values on the traditional six brake bolts.
Enve's new Foundation Collection wheelsets weigh 1540 g (45) and 1620 g (65).
The Foundation Collection wheelsets are priced at £1,800 and each comes with the company's Lifetime Incident Protection program. This commercial agreement means that if you are the original owner and damage the Foundation wheelset, Enve will replace it.
Enve has also added Enduro mountain bike wheelsets to the Foundation Collection, available in both 27.5er and 29er, built around Industry Nine hubs and featuring Enve's wide hookless beads, which are pinch-resistant flatness is said to be improved by 50%.
