Team Ineos helped provide hand sanitizers to NHS staff in the UK after owner Jim Ratcliffe converted three factories into hand sanitizer manufacturing plants. The move was made in response to a "call to action" from the UK government as the coronavirus pandemic has forced countries around the world into various levels of lockdown.

Team INEOS' logistics team assisted with the delivery of hand sanitizer products as oil companies attempted to roll out "up to 1 million new INEOS hand sanitizers" amidst race disruptions across Europe.

Criticized in 2019 for its fracking activities, INEOS entered cycling in 2019 when it took over team sponsorship from Sky.

According to a statement released by Team Ineos on Friday, these products will now be sent to several NHS Trust hospitals in the north of England, with a total of 28 sites benefiting.

The statement added that "Ineos currently produces almost 200 different products used in drugs, testing kits, ventilators and protective clothing in the fight against coronaviruses." [Dave Brailsford, who has helped distribute the hand sanitizers, said, "The UK government asked industry for help and INEOS is proud to have answered the call. Team INEOS is used to moving quickly, but 10 days from start to finish at three plants already was incredibly tight. We are all in this together and I thank everyone in the INEOS family for their hands-on approach to getting this job done."

Team INEOS is not the first brand to help in this way. Santini, an Italian clothing manufacturer based in one of the areas hardest hit by the coronavirus, switched production last month and began making face masks for medical teams. Several other clothing brands have taken a similar position, and individual players have also played a very commendable role.

Davide Martinelli volunteered as a bike courier in a local village, contributing by delivering vital medical supplies to those too vulnerable or unable to leave their homes.
