Deceuninck-QuickStep's Remco Evenpoel said he is looking forward to the first stage of the Digital Switzerland 5 indoor race series on Wednesday. The race pits 19 professional teams of three against each other in a section of a stage that was cancelled in this year's Tour de Suisse, all on the Louvy virtual platform with video footage of the course.
Evenpoel, along with teammates Dries Devenance and Pieter Serry, will take on the 26.6 km opening stage from Agaan to Leukerbad.
"I talked to the guys the other day and it should be a really fun race, so we are all looking forward to it," Evenpoel said on the team website on Tuesday. 'We don't know what's going to happen yet, but one thing's for sure, it's going to be an exciting indoor racing series. This will be great for us and great for the fans.
The five stages will run daily from April 22 to 26 and can be watched live in a variety of ways. [Deceuninck-QuickStep athletes as well as Trek-Segafredo's Vincenzo Nibali, Mats Pedersen, Bauke Mollema, Team Sunweb's Michael Matthews, George Bennett, Yumbo Visma's Primoz Roglic and other famous riders, Victor Kampenaerts and Edvald Boasson Hagan (both of NTT Pro Cycling), Adam Yates (Mitchelton Scott), Dan Martin of Israel Startup Nation, AG2R La Mondiale's Romain Bardet and Oliver Naessen, and recent "Virtual Tour of Flanders" winner Greg Van Avermaat (CCC Team).
