Strong Sunweb Team Sends Two Players to Top 4 on First Day of Digital Swiss 5

Rohan Dennis (Team Ineos) won the opening race of the "Digital Swiss 5" held on Monday on the virtual training app "Louvi."

In second place, 1 minute and 10 seconds behind Dennis, was Irish rider Nicolas Roche, and in fourth place, another 29 seconds behind, was Australian rider Chris Hamilton.

"It feels very strange," said runner-up Roche in a video posted on the team's Twitter account.

"It's not a time trial, it's not a sprint, it's more of a mental challenge than anything else.

"It's a completely different effort than usual, so I've been practicing for the past week with online races. I had a good battle with James Whelan. He was putting a lot of pressure on me, but I could see the kilowatts on the screen, so I tried to keep up with his pace and accelerate when he slowed down. That's how I was able to close the gap in the last bit.

Meanwhile, Hamilton posted on social media about how difficult it was to race on his turbo trainer at home.

"Hardest thing I've ever done," he wrote on Twitter.

"I have to say it was the hardest time of my life so far," Hamilton added on the team's website.

"Running on the indoor trainer was definitely the hardest thing I've ever done. It was fun, though!"

Digital Switzerland 5, which will use footage from the World Tour stage race section of the 2020 Tour de Suisse on the Louvi platform, continues with a 46-km "stage" around Frauenfeld on Thursday and concludes with a fifth race on Sunday, April 26.
