The winning design of the competition conducted by Spanish WorldTour team Movistar has been announced, and the colorful jersey will be manufactured by the team's kit supplier, Alley Cycling, and worn at one of the races this season, when competition resumes later this year. The signed jerseys will also be offered to the Spanish Red Cross and the Italian Protezione Civile (Civil Protection Department) to be auctioned to raise funds for the eradication of the coronavirus pandemic.
'GoboloDesign' won with its 'rainbow' design featuring a prominent 'Movistar blue' section, winning a decisive 19.1% of the votes, beating out two bluer designs. UCI rules allow each team to use a non-standard jersey design once per season, and teams often choose the Tour de France to showcase a limited edition color or special jersey design.
In another competition, Movistar is encouraging further donations to the Spanish Red Cross by offering 2018 road race world champion Alejandro Valverde's Canyon Ultimate CF SLX Team MOV bike as a prize.
The custom-painted bike, which Valverde used in many races during the 2019 season, including the Tour de France, Tour de Flanders, and Vuelta a España, will be donated to the Spanish Red Cross to help the team reach its €25,000 goal The team will be able to.
