Zwift Update: 8 New Workouts, New Events, Bikes and More

Zwift detailed a series of new updates and features to further enrich users' virtual cycling experience.

As demand for indoor cycling escalated during the global health crisis lockdown, Zwift was able to collect more accurate data from its users. In response, Zwift added new workouts.

In total, there are eight new cycling workouts, all of which take less than an hour to complete. These new training cycles were designed and perfected by knowledgeable Zwift consultant Shayne Gaffney, a specialist in delivering noticeable fitness gains to time-constrained clients. The intensity of the new compact training ranges from beginner to advanced.

Riders with only 20 minutes to train can use the Miracle or Vault workouts. Riders with 30 minutes to spare for training can choose from Lavender Unicorn, Lactate Shuttle (short), Wave Rider, or 2 by 2.

The longer new workouts designed by Gaffney for Zwift are Grin and Bear it and Step by Step, both of which take 40 minutes.

There are eight new compact workout plans as well as new events and features, including a Tour For All event to be held throughout May to support the COVID-19 pandemic efforts.

Riders who want Ceramic Speed gears could win the brand's low-friction OSPW derailleurs by completing target distances on OSPW-enhanced road, mountain, and tri/TT bikes.

Zwift has also added a boost mode to FutureWorks events, allowing riders to select a specific assistance profile before the start. Riders who like strategy will enjoy this new feature.

The boost modes are Efficient (90 seconds at 50w), Balanced (17 seconds at 200w), and Power Burst (5 seconds at 500w). Note that each of these boosts increases the running weight for the entire event: 5 kg for Efficient gain, 7.5 kg for Balanced, and 10 kg for Power Burst.

For riders who are concerned about consistency in accurate bib numbers, Zwift has added support for assigning unique numbers.

Digital bike frame fans will also be heartened to see two new carbon fiber rides available in Zwift's latest update: the Factor One and Ridley's Noah Fast Disc, both of which are now available in Drop Shop stores.
