Lucas Pestlberger (Bora-Hansgrohe) was stung in the mouth by a wasp in the early kilometers of stage 19 of the Tour de France, forcing him to abandon the race.

The 28-year-old Austrian rider immediately sought medical assistance in a race doctor's car, but was unable to continue the Tour de France, even though the finish in Paris was only two days away.

Pestlberger suffered an anaphylactic reaction to a bee sting and was taken to the hospital. It was confirmed that a team doctor spoke with Pestlberger by phone and he is being treated and is already on the mend.
