Women's Trek Segafredo strengthened its sprint and classic teams with the signings of Australian Chloe Hosking and 2016 world champion Amalie Dideriksen. The team also signed 18-year-old Dutch rider Shirin van Unrooy.
Trek-Segafredo is currently ranked No. 1 in the UCI women's standings, but competition is heating up as other WorldTour teams strengthen their roster for 2021.
Hosking, 30, is racing for Rally Cycling this year after three seasons with Yale Cipollini. She is considered one of the fastest sprinters in the women's peloton and brings another decade of experience to the team.
"I have been around the peloton for a long time and 2021 will be my 12th season as a professional. I came into this team as a sprinter, so my main goal is to win big sprint races."
"On the road I want to be the team captain. I have done a lot of races and have a lot of experience in that. I'm very happy to be the team captain because it takes a lot of pressure off the riders who are looking for the win.
When he first turned pro, Hosking raced with Ina Twittenberg, but is now coached by Trek-Segafredo's Directeur Sportif.
"One of the main deciding factors in my move to Trek-Segafredo was Ina Teutenberg.
"Under Ina's guidance, I joined the professional peloton at the age of 19. I ran with her for three years. I learned a lot from her then, but I feel I wasn't good enough at the time to get the most out of her extensive knowledge. So I am very much looking forward to riding with Ina again and learning from her. She is a great leader with a wealth of information
"I will also be reunited with some of my old teammates. I also ran with Elisa (Longo Borghini) and Audrey (Cordón Lago) for four years. I also ran with Ellen van Dijk and Trixie (Wallach). They were phenomenal leadouts in the Drentse 8, one of the first big races I won in Europe in 2012."
Dideriksen joins from Boels-Dolmans, where she won the Ronde Van Drenthe, three stages of the Boels Ladies Tour, and a stage of the OVO Energy Women's Tour, along with the 2016 road world title, but her career with Trek-Segafredo hopes to get her career back on track.
In her first season, she will split her focus between road and track, with the Olympics being one of her main goals.
"Amalie will add strength to our classical group. She is a former world champion, an excellent sprinter, and has the ability to run away with victory. I think she will be a really good asset to the team and help us become stronger in certain race scenarios," Teutenberg said of Dideriksen.
"She is still young and I am sure she can grow a lot with each passing year. I look forward to working with her starting next season."
Dideriksen added:" I am excited to take the next step in my career. I truly feel that Trek Segafredo is pushing women's cycling in the right direction.
"I have a big goal of making the Olympics on the track next year. I look forward to helping strengthen the team's lead-out and being the nominated sprinter when the opportunity arises."
[28Cillin Van Unroy spent the summer with Trek Segafredo and earned a neo-pro contract. She will join compatriots Ellen van Dijk and Lucinda Brand in taking the first steps in her career as a professional cyclist.
"I still can't believe I'm going to be a part of Trek-Segafredo now. Being a professional cyclist has always been a dream of mine, but to already have this opportunity at such a young age is quite surreal."
"I know I will learn a lot from my new, experienced teammates. The team feels like one big family and I want to offer my support during the race and do the best I can because I know they will try to do the same for me."
