The winner of Milan-San Remo has already announced that he will compete in four races, starting with Kortrijk on November 28, followed by the X2O Trophy in Herentals in December, Barre on January 1, and Hamme in January. He will also compete in the Belgian Championships before the World Championships in Oostende on January 31.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, the World Cup calendar has been reduced from 14 to 5 races, with Tabor being the opening race. As of now, Van Aert is not confirmed to compete in any other World Cup races. His first meeting with world champion Mathieu van der Pol will likely be at the X2O round in Herentals on December 23.

Van der Pol will start his season with the X2O Trophy in Antwerp on December 12, followed by the Namur World Cup on December 20.

All entourage members of the cyclocross race must pass the COVID-19 test, which will take effect on November 28. Cyclocross races will be held "behind closed doors" and spectators will not be allowed. Other changes include more space between riders and helpers on the starting grid and fewer mechanics and support staff in the pits.
