Marianne Bosch Not Denying Victory at Cyclocross World Championships

Marianne Vos (Jumbo-Visma) is aiming for the podium at the UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Ostend, Belgium, on January 30-31, but she is not resigned to victory either. In an interview from the road team's camp in Alicante, Spain, the seven-time cyclocross world champion said she wants to get the best possible result.

"I want to get the best possible result. The season was very short. It's hard to peak, but I'm happy with how I'm doing," Boss said in a video released by the team on Friday. I'm in good shape and the level is getting better."

"The level is very, very high and we knew that a podium finish was possible.

Vos cut short the cyclocross season, which began in Essen on December 22, with races in Herentals on December 23 and Dendermond on December 27.

He then made his debut at the World Cup in Hulst in January wearing a Jumbo Visma kit and scored his first podium of the season at the Zilbermeer Cross. She says she has gained confidence heading into the World Championships.

She is currently united with her Jumbo-Visma road teammates at a training camp in Alicante and said the team fully supports her ambition to compete in both cyclocross and road racing.

"Cyclocross and road is an interesting combination that has to be balanced well. The team gives me the perfect opportunity to do that. I am very happy with the support of the team and I don't think there are many road teams that do this. It is not easy to run such an organization correctly, to have all the materials in place, and to support them in the races.

"The [2020] road season in particular has been quite long. I worked with the coaches and the team to create a program that prioritized getting as fit as possible from the cyclocross season for the road season, not just the cyclocross season where you want to do well in the races, but also the road season.

"I'm looking forward to the cyclocross races and continuing with the road season.

Vos said he has high ambitions and is committed to getting results in the cyclocross world championships before turning his attention to the road season. This year he has his sights set on the Tour de Flanders, the Amstel Gold Race, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, the Olympics, and the road world championships in Flanders.

"It's going to be an interesting season," Vos said. Of course, we have the Olympics, which is a big goal, and then the World Championships. I'm looking forward to the [cyclo-cross] world championships first. We also have the beautiful spring classics coming up, which is the first big goal of the road season."
