Kopecký: World title in the points race: "Everything went well.

Lotte Kopecky (Belgium) closed out a successful season by winning the world title in the points race at the UCI Track World Championships in Roubaix, France, on Sunday.

The Belgian multidiscipline rider said the new rainbow jersey was special given the double crash on the track that eliminated her from medal contention at the Tokyo Olympics.

"After the Olympics, where everything went wrong, here everything went right. In a post-race interview, Kopecky said, "I'm more motivated for everything that comes next."

On the road for Liv Racing, Kopecký won stages in Le Samyn des Dames and Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour, was second in Gent-Wevelgem, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Nokere Koerse, She was 4th in Brugge-De Panne. He defended his road and time trial titles at the Belgian Championships and won the overall title at the Tour of Lotto Belgium.

At the Olympics, where he represented Belgium, he finished fourth in the road race, but suffered a hip injury after consecutive crashes in the Madison and Omnium.

Kopecký then finished seventh despite being the favorite to win the Flanders World Championships in his hometown, and finished 15th in an "unlucky" race at the Paris-Roubaix Fam later in the season.

At the track world championships, Kopecký won silver in the elimination race and omnium, and beat Katie Archibald (GBR) and Kirsten Wild (NL) for gold in the points race.

"I already had two silver medals. I can't be a gold medalist now. But the race was perfect. I felt really good, I felt strong and I think I did a smart race," Kopecký said.
