The 2021-22 cyclocross season comes to a close with the UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The world's top cyclocross racers will head to the United States this weekend for a two-day battle for six rainbow jerseys on January 29 and 30.

Despite injuries and the departure of Covid 19, there is a stellar lineup in Fayetteville for both men and women, and for all age groups, including juniors, U23s, and elites.

Tom Pidcock (GBR) is the favorite to win the elite men's title, while Lucinda Brand (NL) will be looking to retain her title for the second time in the elite women's event.

Pidcock will face a number of big names on Sunday, even if Wout Van Aert and Mathieu Van Der Pol will not be racing. Pidcock will be up against a strong Belgian team, led by Eli Iserbitt, Toon Art, and Michael Van Tulenhout. Lars van der Haar and Kone van Kessel will lead the Dutch elite men.

For the elite women, the Dutch are in pole position to sweep the podium. Denise Bessema and Annemarie Worst are absent due to fever and Covid-19, but will be joined by former seven-time consecutive champion Marianne Vos along with Brand.

Seylin del Carmen Alvarado, Yara Castellane, and Manon Bakker will also represent the Netherlands. Meanwhile, former world champion Sanne Canto will lead the line for Belgium.

Eva Lechner (Italy), Maggie Rochette (Canada), Blanka Kata Vas (Hungary), Katerina Nash (Czech Republic), and Clara Honsingel (USA) will compete in the elite women's race.

In the U23 race, watch for Tibau Nys (Belgium), Pim Longhaar (Netherlands), and Dutch women Puck Pieterse and Femme van Empel.
