Ronneke Uneken sprinted on stage 2 of the Bloeizone Fryslan Tour to claim SD Worx's first win of the season.
Amy Peters crashed during training in December and remains unconscious according to her last medical update.
"We are always thinking about Amy and trying to fight with her," Uneken said.
"After a very difficult time, this is very rewarding. This victory is for Amy. I hope it gives her and her family strength."
How much a win in her honor means to the riders of SD Worx was evident in the emotional state of Demi Volering, who sank to the pavement across the finish line at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad last week. I wanted to win for Amy," Vollering chirped.
"I wanted to win for Amy," Vollering said, his voice quivering.Volering lost to Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar), but the close race was encouraging ahead of the group sprint on stage 2 of the Broizon Friesland Tour. In this Dutch race, formerly known as the Healthy Aging Tour, Uneken battled Trek-Segafredo's Chloe Hosking for the victory on the flat 135 km between Eastermaar and Bakkeveen.
"When I started into the wind, I knew it was going to be a close race," said the 22-year-old, who has been racing in the SD Walks since 2020.
"But I knew if I kept sprinting I might beat her [Hosking]. I'm happy to provide the team with their first win. We already felt we were in good shape after the opening weekend. I'm happy to confirm that."
