2022 Paris-Nice finished with the fewest final places since 1985.
Simon Yates (Bike Exchange-Jayco) won the final stage, but was the only team finisher. Meanwhile, overall champion Primoš Roglic was led to the finish by Wout van Aert, while his teammate Steven Kruijswijk was the only finisher for Jumbo-Visma.
On the final day, illness, injury, and poor conditions caused eight riders to retire before the start, and another 29 riders headed to the team bus early during the 115 km stage.
Even in 2020, when only 17 teams made it to the start as seven WorldTour teams withdrew and two more left mid-race as the COVID-19 pandemic began, the race had more finishers, 61.
On average over the past half-century, about 95 people have completed Paris-Roubaix each year; in 1980 and 1985, there were only 58 finishers.
According to UCI regulations, the team ranking is calculated by the top three finishers from each team, so only 11 teams have made the team rankings.
Bora-Hansgrohe's riders were not in the race, as Alexandre Vlasov, who was in seventh place overall after Saturday's queen stage, crashed and had to pull out of the race with scrapes and bruises. Sam Bennett, Ryan Mullen, and Danny van Poppel also dropped out mid-stage.
AG2R Citroen Team, B&B Hotels-KTM, Cofidis, EF Education-Easy Post, and Lot Soudal finished with two riders each, Astana Kazakstan Team, Bike Exchange-Jayco, Intermarche Wanty-Gobert, Israel-Premier Tech, and Quick Step-Alfavinil finished with only one rider.
Simon Yates, second overall, was alone after Lucas Hamilton and Luca Medjeck left before the stage and Nick Schultz and Campbell Stewart left midway through the race.
Mauri Vansevenin (Quick Step-Alfa Vinyl) crashed during the stage but finished last in the Autobus. Astana's David de la Cruz fell ill overnight and left before the stage. Georg Zimmermann was the only finisher of Intermarque Wantigover.
Hugo Jure of Israel Premier Tec ran alone for half of the entire race, taking the team bus by himself, but still finished 11th overall.

A number of riders dropped out in the first four stages, but on stage 5, 23 riders left Paris-Nice due to a flu outbreak. Eleven more dropped out on stage 6, and 14 more dropped out on the final day.
