Sonny Colbrelli of Bahrain Victorias, who missed Paris-Nice due to bronchitis, will also miss Saturday's Milan-Saint-Rémun.
Last year's unforgettable Paris-Roubaix winner, who started his season at the end of February in Omloop-Het Nieuwsblad and Kuhne-Brusselkuhne, crashed in the opening stage finale in Paris-Nice and did not even line up to start the second stage.
"Sonny Colbrelli has not recovered from the bronchitis that caused him to miss Paris-Nice and will not compete in Milan-San Remo," Barlene Victorious said on Twitter.
Ryder added on Instagram that he and the medical staff made the decision to allow him time to "recover properly."
Colbrelli has been an important rider for the Classics team, and his victory in Paris-Roubaix at the end of the season provided much inspiration for the 2022 season. Before the interruption, he won the Omloop Het Niewsblad, finishing second in a group sprint behind lone winner Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma).
The 31-year-old Colbrelli has performed well in Milan-San Remo, finishing in the top 10 four times in 10 appearances on the 298-km-long monument.
The team's hopes likely rest on the shoulders of Matej Mohoric, who finished 11th in this race last year. Mohoric finished fifth again in 2019. The Slovenian national champion has marked Milan-San Remo as his favorite race and hopes to one day make the most of the Poggio climb and cross the line to celebrate his victory.
Mohoric has had a solid start to the season with three top-10 stage finishes at the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. In Strada Bianche, he was caught up in a wind gust havoc early in the race and had to abandon the race after suffering a knee injury in a crash.
