Some cycling apparel has a bit of a reputation for looking alike. Swedish safety guru and relative newcomer to the cycling world, POC is no stranger to such accusations. With clean lines and a distinctive look that always utilizes a signature color palette, POC has carved out a niche for itself as the cool kid, and for the spring/summer 2022 season, POC continues to stick to that formula. We pick out the best bits from both the road and gravel collections.
New clothing releases tend to follow the formula of men's first, then women's. While a subtle change, it is certainly refreshing to see women's wear first in POC's press releases. [It features a reverse suspender design that allows for a break in nature without having to take off the jersey or fiddle with suspender clips. Learning a lot from the Ultimate VPD, it features a women's-specific chamois with silicone inserts to help dampen vibration.
For those who start in colder climates or find it a bit more difficult to stay warm, there is the women's Ambient Jersey. It is made of light fleece, has long sleeves, and comes in black and a handsome shade of red.
You can also get the new Pristine Jersey for both men and women. Made of recycled material, these short-sleeved pieces have mesh panels and low-profile collars designed for hot days. The women's version comes in turquoise, navy, and dusty orange; the men's version comes in turquoise and olive.
In addition to the Pristine Jersey, the men's collection includes the Muse Jersey, a short-sleeved merino polyester blend jersey with classic styling and available in black and dark turquoise. As an additional layer, POC has also released the Kernal Layer Vest. This is also a sleeveless baselayer made of a merino polyester blend that is designed to keep the wearer warm while providing breathability and wicking sweat away from the skin when the water temperature rises.
For the men's legs, there are also new cargo bib shorts and robe cargo bib shorts. Made from recycled materials and constructed with flatlock stitching and seam-free suspenders, they provide all-day comfort on both pavement and gravel.
In addition to the main garments, POC offers new socks in long and mid-lengths, with the Zephyr model made of merino for several days of stink-free comfort; the Deft and Agile gloves (short and long, respectively) offer two new options for those who want to keep their hands covered. new options for those who want to keep their hands covered.
Since socks and gloves alone are hardly enough to enthuse the world in terms of innovation, there are also the new POC Elicit Clarity sunglasses. Composed of bio-materials and Zeiss lenses, these sunglasses are impressive on paper, but they also work wonders in the real world.
While there are no new models, the addition of MIPS to the Omne Air, Ventral Air, Ventral, Ventral Tempus, and Octal X further confirms POC's claim that safety is a top priority.
