The International Cycling Union (UCI) has announced that 12 events will be held, beginning with the Philippines on April 3, two in the United States and Australia, and one in France, Poland, Sweden, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain. [The Blue Mountain Gravel Fondo in Canada is not included, and the Highlands Gravel Classic in Fayetteville, Arkansas, will be held on June 25.

Spain's Ranxo event will conclude the series on September 18.

The UCI has indicated that the first official UCI Gravel World Championships will be held in the "European fall," with the venue to be announced shortly.

Cycling News has already reported that the UCI Gravel World Championships will be held in Tuscany, Italy, on the same gravel roads (Strade Bianche) as the famous Leroyka event, in October after the Gravel World Series.

The UCI announced last September that it would create the Gravel Series and the Gravel World Championships. Gravel will be the tenth discipline to award the rainbow jerseys to the men's and women's world champions.

The UCI relaxed the rules for the first year of the Gravel World Series, allowing participants to compete on any type of bike except electronic bikes.

No major events were selected from established gravel rides or races in the United States for the first year of the UCI World Series, including the Garmin Gravel Worlds in Nebraska. The Gravel World Series is sponsored by Trek and organized by Golasso, which also organizes the UCI Gran Fondo World Series and World Championships as part of the UCI Cycling for All initiative.

To qualify for the Gravel World Championships, participants must have a UCI racing license and must be in the top 25% in each gender and age group.

The UCI clarified that, in contrast to the Gran Fondo World Series, professional athletes can participate in the Gravel World Series and qualify for the UCI Gravel World Championships.19]
