Social fitness app Strava on Tuesday announced a three-year partnership with the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), organizer of the Tour de France and Tour de France Femme Avec Zwift, to create a new content hub to capture riders' The company announced that it will create a new content hub within the app to capture data.
According to a press release, rider data from 62% of last year's Tour de France stage wins will be loaded into the Strava app, allowing users to see the winner's route, time, section record, and in some cases, the heart rate and power data that produced the victory.

The press release does not mention the need for riders to participate in uploading data to Strava, but states that the hub will "specialize in uploading daily activities and telling riders' stories through photos." The Tour de France will take place July 1-24, 2022, and the Tour de France Fam Avec Zwift will take place July 24-31, 2022.
Strava CEO and co-founder Michael Horvath said the partnership will provide users with "a new way to follow the action of an iconic race" and the company's "commitment to promoting equity and inclusion in sport." As evidence of its commitment, he noted that it will host a hub for men's and women's tools.
"The Tour is the most watched annual sporting event in the world, and last year three-quarters of the peloton shared rides on Strava. With this partnership and future events on Strava, more riders, including the female peloton, will be able to engage with cyclists around the world in new ways and inspire cyclists regardless of gender, age, or where they live."
According to a press release, ASO used Strava to design the Tour de France course, and 72% of Tour de France participants uploaded their race efforts to the app.
ASO CEO Jan Le Moener said that by partnering with the app, fans can "get closer to the Tour de France and Tour de France Femme on Zwift and discover new routes for future challenges, inspired by the world's greatest riders and discover new routes for future challenges, inspired by the world's greatest riders."
U.S. national champion Lauren Stevens (EF Education-TIBCO-SVB) said she uses Strava to motivate herself and challenge sectional records, and praised the company's support for the Tour de France Femme
