Video captures Pogacar's anger at Van Baar after the Tour of Flanders sprint

Tour de France winner Tadej Pogachar, who suggested he was irritated with himself after being boxed in in the sprint that decided the Tour of Flanders, was shown in a rare angry post-race video yelling at Dylan Van Barre

Pogaerts.

Pogachar tried to drop all his rivals in a fierce attack on Sunday's crucial cobbled climb. He eventually escaped with Mathieu van der Pol, but was caught in the final kilometer by Van Baar and Valentin Maduas (Groupama-FDJ) and forced to sprint for the win.

Van der Pol was able to pull away and Pogachar was stuck at the back of the pack. Pogachar waved his arms in frustration at missing out on victory and second place as Van der Pol crossed the finish line and won the Tour of Flanders.

Pogachar did not stop to talk to the media in the finish area. However, Flobikes journalist Gregor Brown captured the moment Pogachar confronted Van Baar in anger.

"These things happen in sprints," Van Baarle appeared to say, but Pogachar angrily waved his arms and vented his anger at the Dutchman.

The UAE Team Emirates staff then shielded and distanced themselves to protect Pogachar. Both players later denied any knowledge of the moment, but for a few seconds the Slovenian lost his usual restraint.

"No, Pogachar didn't come to congratulate me on my second place finish," Van Baarle later told Eurosport.

After showering on the UAE Team Emirates bus, Pogachar was calmer and more diplomatic.

"At that moment I was really disappointed that I couldn't do my sprint. But that's cycling. I'm not going to be able to sprint," Pogachar told journalists, including CyclingNews.

"I wasn't mad at anyone. It may have looked that way, but I was frustrated with myself because I didn't ride my best 100 meters to the finish."
