We're in the midst of the spring classic season, but another World Tour stage race, the Tour of the Basque Country, also known as Iturria, is coming to the cobblestones and hills of Northern Europe.

Now in its 61st year, the six-day race is known for its hilly stages and steep climbs. It is one of the major stage races of the spring, featuring such greats as Alberto Contador, Sean Kelly, Gino Bartali, and Jacques Anquetil.
This time Primoš Roglic will be looking to defend his title against Lemko Evenpor, Adam Yates, and Julien Alaphilippe.

This year's race opens with a short time trial in Hondarribia, followed by a challenging hilly course to Viana at the end of the 207km long second stage.
Another tough finish awaited on day three to Amurio, just 5 km from the line, on a 500 m, 9.8% hill in Rezama. More hills await on the fourth stage from the Basque capital of Vitoria-Gasteiz to Zamudio, but none within 20 km of the finish.
The last two days begin with 11 climbs (5 sections), followed by a 10% climb to the line of Maravia in stage 5. The final stage will then finish at Alto de Arate above Eibar.
