The spring classic races are over and the stage racing season begins with the Festival Elsijakobs in Luxembourg from April 29 to May 1.
There is little rest on the calendar for May, as the month is packed with nearly a month of events, including three women's World Tour events: the Iturria Women (May 13-15), the Vuelta a Burgos Feminas (May 19-22), and the RideLondon (May 27-29).
Emma Norsgaard and the Movistar team will not be on the start line for the Festival Elie Jacobs to defend their title, but they will be joined by Luxembourg national champion and former overall winner Christine Majerus and Demi Vollering, and another former overall winner SD Walks, coached by Anna van der Breggen as the team's sporting director, and other quality athletes.
SD Walks will be one of the strongest teams with Hungarian champion Blanka Kata Vas, climbers Anna Shackley and Niamh Fischer-Black, and sprinter Roxanne Fournier.
The start list also includes eight women's world teams, along with SD Worx, Liv Racing Xstra with Canadian champion Allison Jackson, Canyon-SRAM with Alice Burns, Anna Henderson with Jumbo-Visma, UAE team ADQ with Marta Bastianelli, Uno X with Hannah Burns and Jos Roden, and EF Education-TIBCO-SVB with Katrin Hames and US champion Lauren Stevens. The list goes on.
Festival Elie Jacobs will transition the women's field from the one-day classic to the stage race season, beginning with a 2.2km prologue in Sesange. The race then moves to a 121.4-km first stage in Steinfall and concludes with a 109.3-km second stage in Garnich on Sunday.
Organizers will provide live coverage of the three-day event with a live tracker of Friday's prologue and live streaming of the three stages.
Following the Pro Series-level Festival Elie Jacobs, the women's peloton will compete in the new Vuelta Ciclista Andalucía Ruta del Sol Women (May 3-5) and the Brittany Ladies Tour (May 3-7), both 2.1-level stage There is an option to compete in the race.
The 1.1-level one-day races include the GP Ecostructure (May 7), Gran Premio Ciudad de Eibar (May 8), the Emacmén Nafarroaco Women's Elite Classic (May 10), and La Classic Morbihan (May 13), Grand Prix du Morbihan Fam (May 14), Durango - Durango Emmacmén Sarria (May 17), and Winnendal - Winnendal Classic (May 21).
In between the one-day races are the top-class stage races Itzulia Women, Vuelta a Burgos Feminas, and RideLondon Classique, which are part of the six-day Pro Series Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour ( May 24-29), which overlaps with the six-day Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour (May 24-29).
In the United States, women's teams will compete in the Tour of the Gila (April 27-May 1) and the Jo Martin Stage Race (May 19-22), while the Rochester Twilight will host a criterium on May 21.
