Primoš Roglic is continuing rehabilitation on the knee he injured in Ituriá Basque Country last month and will begin full training next week, his Jumbo-Visma team announced.
The Slovenian will head to the team training camp in the Sierra Nevada, Spain, next week for the Tour de France in July. He has not raced since finishing eighth in Ituria in mid-April and missed the Ardennes Classic with a knee problem.
Since then, Roglic has been spending time at his home in Slovenia and continuing his limited training under the supervision of the team doctor.
"He is still in the rehabilitation phase. The doctor and performance coach Mathieu Heyboer are monitoring Primoš's knee every day."
"He is still in the rehabilitation phase.
"His training sessions are still "on the brakes" for now. We hope to fully load his knee next week."
Roglic's major goal this season is to once again challenge countryman and two-time Tour GC winner Tadej Pogachar, who will be joined in July by Wout Van Aert, Jonas Vingegaard, and Rohan Dennis from Jumbo Visma.
Climbers Steven Kluisweig and Sepp Kuss are also set to compete in the Tour.
These riders will join Roglic in the Sierra Nevada. Nathan Van Hooydonk and Mike Tunissen will also join the team camp, and the two will compete with Christophe Laporte for the final spot in the Tour.
"I wouldn't be surprised to see Benoot at the Tour start in Copenhagen," Zeman said. He leaves for the Sierra Nevada on Monday with the rest of the Tour team."
"We want to start our preparation for the Tour with a wide selection. If one rider falls off or gets sick in the next few weeks, we don't want to replace him with a rider who is not ready."
