Tom Pidcock trekked about 200 km from Germany to the Czech Republic on Monday.
Olympic champion Tom Pidcock won the World Cup round in Albstadt, Germany, on Sunday, but decided not to rest the next day.
He also decided against traveling by car or other traditional means of transportation to the Czech Republic, where the next round of the World Cup will take place this weekend.
Instead, he packed up his gear and set out to run a total of 190.2 km in nearly six hours.
Pidcock set out from the suburb of Schwandorf, near Nuremberg. He headed east, and after 75 km he arrived at Liskova, the border with the Czech Republic.
Pidcock then continued northeast, bypassing Plzen to head in the direction of Prague, the Czech capital. He ended his run near the small village of Cerkhovice shortly after entering the central Bohemian region of the Czech Republic.
As shared on Strava, the ride had a total distance of 190.2 km, a duration of 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 46 seconds, and an average speed of 32.7 km/h. The elevation gain was 2,141 meters, and Pidcock consumed 5,000 kilocalories.
Pidcock took a break from road racing in May to focus on MTB. However, he had his racing Pinarello Dogma F ready for Monday's ride.
There are still some 200 km from Cherkhoviv to Nove Mesto.
The Nove Mesto round of the UCI World Cup series will take place this weekend, and Pidcock will compete in both the short track event on Friday and the XCO main event on Sunday. He plans to return to the road in the summer and is expected to make his debut at the Tour de France.
