Demi Volering was admitted to the hospital and spent the night after a crash at the Drango-Drango Picture Gallery Salia on Tuesday.SD Worx confirmed that Volering was released from the hospital on Wednesday, that she had no other injuries, and that she is in good physical condition.
"She spent the night in the hospital as a precautionary measure. This morning she was able to ride her bike and felt good," a team representative wrote in Cycling News.
SD Walks confirmed in a social media post on Tuesday that Vollering and Ashley Moolman-Pasio were involved in a crash during the one-day race. Moolman-Pasio returned to her bike and finished fourth, but Volering was forced to abandon the race.
"After yesterday's crash, Demi Volering and Ashley Moolman-Pasio are safe and uninjured from the crash," SD Works wrote Wednesday morning.
Volering confirmed that she landed on her back and side in the crash and felt dizzy while standing. She was allowed to leave the hospital after a precautionary medical checkup and said she is now "fine."
"After spending the night in the hospital, I knew I was fine. I crashed hard on my back and sides, but luckily nothing was broken," she shared in an Instagram post. 'I get dizzy and sick if I stand or sit up straight, and if I don't lie down I pass out. So they had to keep me in the hospital overnight to make sure nothing was wrong. I am fine."
Volering also posted a picture of his bike ride on Wednesday, saying, "Everything was fine! I didn't find anything strange. I rode my bike this morning after I got back to the hotel and it felt good! The healthy legs are still going strong. Thanks for the support
Voerling had recently won all three stages and the overall at the first Iturria women's race and was expected to be a strong contender for the Vuelta a Burgos Feminas. Teams will decide on Thursday morning whether Vollering will start the race before the first stage.
"Normally she will start, but this will be decided tomorrow morning," the team told Cycling News.
