Katie Archibald suffered ligament damage after being hit by a car driver on Sunday. The British track star revealed Wednesday that she was "blown" over the hood of her 4WD car after the driver failed to spot her at a T-junction.
She suffered a grade 1 ligament injury to her right ankle and a grade 2 injury to her left ankle and is currently wearing an ankle brace as she recovers.
It is unknown at this time how long the injury will take to heal and how it will affect Archibald's preparation for the Commonwealth Games this summer.
"Last Sunday I flew over the hood of my 4WD. It was a beautiful sunny day, but the driver who ran into me as I was going through a T-junction didn't see me," Archibald posted on social media.
"Ligaments in both ankles are not happy (grade 1 misery in right ankle, grade 2 misery in left ankle) but all still attached. I also think I avoided a serious concussion, and the 3.5 ligaments in my injured right knee are fine."
The crash came shortly after Archibald returned from a broken collarbone she injured at the Nations Cup in Glasgow in April; two weeks ago, she posted a video of her return to biking, but now she has been forced to rest again.
"Can't say I love 2022," she wrote Wednesday. 'Life is long. This is my update. I promise to return to Good News the next time I post.
Archibald, who has won gold medals at the past two Olympics, will represent Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in London in late July and early August.
