Unbound Gravel Expands Live Coverage by FloBikes

FloSports is expanding its exclusive coverage of the 2022 Garmin Unbound Gravel presented by Craft this Saturday, providing 12 camera positions with new drone footage for over six hours of live coverage from Emporia, Kansas. The company announced the addition of timing mats and spotters.

The live broadcast will be available to subscribers of the FloBikes streaming platform beginning at 12:00 CDT.

Last year, gravel event organizer Life Time Fitness signed a two-year deal with FloSports to provide full programming for the first time to its growing audience of gravel fans. 2022 broadcasts will be available to a worldwide audience, with a total of 12 cameras, 200 miles The coverage will be enhanced by focusing on the action of the race. When the coverage begins, the top 100-mile riders should be near the finish line in downtown Emporia.

Of the 12 cameras to be installed on the course this year, four will be aerial drones and four will be motocameras to track the race leaders and key chasers. In addition, two roaming cameras mounted on 4X4s will travel to key locations on the course, and two cameras will be placed at the finish line.

FloSports will also be joined by race commentator, Frankie Andrew, an 11-year road racer and two-time U.S. Olympian and a nine-year road pro who finished third in the 200-mile race in Emporia in 2017 and won the Crusher in Tushar, and More timing mats and spotters will be placed throughout the course to provide real-time information to Janelle Spilker. Interviews from riders at the finish line will be dispatched by former cyclo-cross rider Ellen Noble.

The signature event, the Unbound Gravel 200, includes 9,700 feet (2,956.5 meters) of elevation gain across the Flint Hills of Kansas, where sharp rocks and prairie winds are known to play havoc with equipment and physical and mental stamina. Lauren De Crescenzo, winner of the women's division of the Unbound Gravel 200, and Ian Boswell, who won the men's division sprinting against Lawrence ten Dam, returned to defend their titles.

The Unbound Gravel 100 covers much of the same terrain with an elevation gain of 5,270 feet (1,606 meters). The women were Lauren Stevens and the men were Steven Hyde, with Hyde finishing in 5:20:13 and Stevens in 5:41:58.

The Unbound 100 will have a simultaneous start at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, so Froebike's coverage should begin with the top contenders in this division. the 200-mile mass start will leave 6th and Commercial in downtown Emporia at 6:00 a.m. (CST). and the fastest riders are expected to finish 10-12 hours later.

This year's 200-mile race is the second of the six-race Lifetime Grand Prix presented by Mazda Off-Road Series and boasts an all-star start list with most of the 60 invited riders in the series in attendance.
