Ask any cycling fan about the greatest cyclist of the past two decades, and the name "Fabian Cancellara" will surely come up. The Swiss rider has won seven monuments, two Olympic gold medals, four rainbow jerseys, and has worn the yellow jersey more than 29 times in the Tour de France.
Le Col, the clothing partner of the "Chasing Cancellara" series named after Cancellara, has launched a capsule collection in tribute and collaboration with him.
Le Col's Fabian Cancellara collection consists of two jerseys, two bib shorts, socks, and a cap, all sold separately. For those seeking pure speed, there is the Pro Aero jersey, designed after the kits of the Leopard Trek team of yesteryear and the Swiss national champions. We haven't tried it yet to see if it makes our list of best cycling jerseys, but this jersey is definitely aero-specific, so expect a close fit, shorter front, and longer arms for both men and women. Matching this jersey are the Pro Bib Shorts, which have a more subtle design with flash colors at the base of the gripper on both legs.
If speed is not your ultimate goal and you want a little more comfort, or if you simply want a jersey in black, there is a sports jersey with the same design but in a darker blue from Fabian's early years with Fassabortolo. Designed for training and long outings, it features a more relaxed fit and a longer front panel. The Sport bibs look the same as the Pro models but are not tailored for racing; the Pro aims for a compression fit like many of the best cycling shorts, while the Sport is not as snug fitting.
If you're not motivated before the ride, each jersey has a pocket with Cancellara's Palma on it (the highlights alone would make the pocket huge) and another pocket with a spartan helmet to match Spartacus' nickname. The background is black with splashes of red, white, turquoise, and navy.
