The 2022 UCI World Tour has been reduced by one event for both men and women due to the cancellation of the Guangxi Glee Tour and Guangxi Women's Tour.
The UCI announced the decision on Thursday, saying organizers chose not to hold the races due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
The men's race was scheduled to conclude the World Tour from October 13-18. Now, Il Lombardia is the final men's World Tour race.
The women's one-day race was scheduled to be the final race of the 2022 Women's World Tour, but will now conclude with the Tour of Chongming Island on October 13-15.
The UCI will incorporate the final stage of the Pro Series Tour de Langkawi into its season rankings on October 18, officially ending the 2022 road calendar.
The Tour of Guangxi began in 2017, with Tim Wellens (Lotto Soudal) winning the first edition. The next two editions were won by Gianni Moscon and Enric Mas, but the races were cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The women's race was scheduled to debut in 2021, but was canceled for the same reason.
