Rohan Dennis is out of the Jumbo Visma team for the Tour de France, which includes Primoš Roglič, Jonas Vingegaard, and Wout van Aert.
Sepp Kuss and Steven Kruijswijk will support Roglič and Vingegaard on the climbs, with Tiesj Benoot, Nathan Van Hooydonck, and Christophe Laporte completing the roster.
While Roglic and Vingegaard lead the overall battle for Jumbo Visma, Van Aert has the freedom to pursue the green jersey after three stage wins in last year's Tour. The Jumbo-Visma team is structured with these different goals in mind.
"We have several ambitions, so we have chosen riders who will do their best on different terrains," Director Sportif Merijn Zeeman said in a statement released by the team.
"Not only do we have to guide the leaders safely through the first hectic week, but we also have to be able to make the Tour's leading riders suffer in the mountains.
"Wout also deserves to be well supported in his bid for a stage win and the green jersey. This team is fit and we believe we can pursue our ambitions in the best way possible."
The omission of Denis, who joined from Ineos last winter, comes as a surprise given his early season success. The Australian worked for Roglic in Paris-Nice and led the Tour de Romandie until the final stage.
Dennis did not finish the Tour de Suisse as he complained of stomach problems at the start and the entire team retired from the race due to COVID-19 infection. Four riders are said to have tested positive, although their names have not been revealed.
Robert Gesink and Mike Tunissen were also left out of the Jumbo-Visma lineup.
