As fit and agile a cyclist as Kofi Kai is, he is relaxed when it comes to labels. Leaning against the spacious trunk of his sporty Skoda Superb Estate, he muses, " As long as you pedal your bike on your own feet to get somewhere, you're a cyclist, right?"

This simple approach to helping all cyclists is the driving force behind Kofi's mission to change the narrative he has always seen as a cyclist." He says, "We can change the conversation around how cyclists look or what cyclists do.

Ride For Unity was founded after the murder of George Floyd and provided a place for people to talk online during a difficult time, when pandemic regulations made such connections even more difficult.

Ride 4 Unity came about very organically as a way to encourage people of "all races, genders, sizes, and sexual orientations" to ride bikes. Building the community virtually meant connecting riders from as far away as Los Angeles and South Africa. Kofi set up social accounts and invited other riders to join him on Instagram Live, providing a way for people to support each other.

The idea blossomed, and today you can see the group smiling not only on Zwift and Instagram, but also on outdoor rides like the grueling Grinduro in Wales. Breaking boundaries is also about just having fun.

And as the face of the broader community, Kofi is keen to align his goals with those of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, which supports children and youth around the world. As such, 20% of the proceeds from the sale of Ride For Unity's stylish clothing will be donated to their cause.

A father of three, Kofi also stays active with his children and loves to watch them grow up on their bikes. Having taken the wheel of a Skoda Superb for the day, he explains that the spacious trunk space as well as the sleek styling, shiny alloys, and driver's seat massage chair have him ready to ride a mile or more.

He also finds the technology in the Superb, from adaptive cruise control to adaptive lane assist, makes long trips considerably less stressful. In addition, luxury features like Apple CarPlay and a large touchscreen make short, carefree trips a pleasure.
