Kasia Niewidoma (Canyon-SRAM) expressed disappointment in the third stage of the Tour de France, saying that despite finishing with the GC favorites, he may have been premature on the final climb.
The Pole said she crashed on the final climb of the day and lost her explosiveness in the final.
"Of course, I wanted to win, like in every race. So it's frustrating that I seem to have made the exact same mistake again."
"In my mind, I feel like I keep reaching back and starting sprinting at speed and surprising people, instead of going for the gun in second position. I feel like maybe impatience comes to mind every time."
Niewiadoma, who initially voiced her disappointment when she returned to the team bus, was able to reflect on the positive aspects of the day, when Annemiek van Fruten (Movistar) and Demi Volering (SD Worx) and others lost time.
"On the other hand, I am happy that I am still on GC and that I didn't lose too much time after my crash," she said.
Niewiadoma's disappointment at missing out on a stage win was compounded by the fact that she probably felt physically in better shape this Tour de France.
"I feel good," she said. 'At the moment I feel this stage suits me very well. It's a classic kind of race and I feel like I'm naturally good at it. So hopefully I can keep it up through this weekend."
"We changed our training program and focused on conserving power for the race. I feel fresh and ready to go."
"I've been working on my training program and I feel like I'm ready to go.
Although he has yet to win a stage, Niewiadoma finished in the lead group for the second day in a row, earning six bonus seconds.
With eight days of stage racing, the 27-year-old hopes her consistency will pay off on Sunday.
"I believe in what my partner Taylor (Finney-Editor) always says, if I can finish in the top five, I think I can make the final podium."
